3D CAD/CAM
Tyler Research uses advanced computer-assisted design (CAD) and integrated computer-assisted manufacturing (CAM) programs, processes and equipment from initial concept through final production of projects. The use of solid modeling and computer simulations means that often we can test ideas and designs before committing to parts production.

CNC Precision Machining
Our production resources include 3-, 4- and 5-axis Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining centers, CNC lathes, 3- and 4-axis CNC abrasive waterjet and a full complement of manual machines, presses and tools. In addition to working with the usual range of metals and high performance alloys common to high precision shops, we specialize in the machining of engineered plastics.

Solid Modeling
An extension of our CAM resources, solid modeling (the creation and manipulation of objects in virtual space using computers) permits the testing of ideas and designs in a computer-simulated environment. Rigorous mathematical modeling and finite element analysis can be applied to simulated components and assemblies before they are machined, often eliminating waste and improving performance of designed parts.

3D Printing and Rapid Prototyping
Our Stratasys 200MC fused deposition modeling printer accepts computer-generated or scanned files, producing functional high resolution ABS plastic components. These can be used to assess the suitability of designs, and in many cases printed components are themselves the final product. In addition, the additive nature of fused deposition modeling permits the manufacture of components that would be impossible to produce using conventional and CNC machining.

Reverse Engineering & Forensic Services
A high precision 3D coordinate measuring system and scanners permit the digitization of parts so that they can be computer modeled, analyzed, modified and reproduced using conventional and CNC machining processes. We also perform forensic engineering audits to analyze the cause of component failure in systems and structures.
