Tyler Research has developed a range of orthotics (devices that support or correct the function of a limb or the torso) and prosthetics (artificial devices that extend or replace a missing body part). Most of these are custom designed for specific patients, although some elements have more universal application. These include the simple and progressive joints below, as well as an infant restrainer seat, training bench and stroller for severely disabled children developed for the Alberta Glenrose Hospital.

EL-SIM
A high-load bearing stainless steel hinge to replace the elbow in prosthetic arms, and to replace the knee in children’s prosthetic legs.

EL-PRO
Like the EL-SIM, but progressive (capable of amplifying angular movement 2:1) to restore full range of motion to patients with restricted mobility.
Custom Projects
Tyler Research is frequently called upon to design from first principles or to modify wheelchairs and other mobility-assisting devices to provide solutions that are not commercially available.
